Accountability and consequences for those human rights criminals who tried to destroy our lives. Because without those, they will absolutely do it again.
Forgiving somebody who has wronged us, perhaps very very seriously (even criminally), does not mean failing to pursue justice. Forgiving the offender enables us to pursue justice without confusing it with vengeance. After all, "Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord," a verse that serves well to remind us that pursuing vengeance is quite different from pursuing justice. I can recall Tim Keller (interviewed in Part III of this series) making the point that until we forgive, we're actually not even able to make justice our goal, because that "natural" response of "getting back" (i.e., getting revenge) is so strong. It is no accident that the Bible speaks many times of hearts being made more tender or more hard.
There will be no forgiveness for the psychopaths that tried to steal our livelihoods, take our freedom, and rob our children of their education and future. Keep your dark age superstitious mumbo jumbo to yourself. I want these people to be held to account , as it’s obvious by now none of them have the slightest intention of apologizing or introspecting. So it’s time for Nuremberg 2.0.
No. Amnesty.
