Announcing the Next Round of the Legal Vocation Fellowship
New regions, applications open, and new staff!
In 2022, I helped start a new initiative for Christian attorneys called The Legal Vocation Fellowship (LVF). In earlier posts, I described the launch of our first cohort and a conference we hosted in St. Louis featuring my colleagues, Rick Garnett of Notre Dame Law School, Ruth Okediji of Harvard Law School, Elizabeth Schiltz of University of St. Thomas Law School, and David Skeel of University of Pennsylvania School.
LVF is a 15-month program for early-career Christian attorneys seeking to integrate their faith and the practice of law. Each cohort class includes up to four fellows in each of our regions. Fellows are led by local mentors and meet to discuss the opportunities and challenges that Christian lawyers face with practically-oriented instruction and theological formation through speakers, readings, and reflections rooted in Christian practices.
I am delighted to report on a few exciting updates as we anticipate the launch of our next cohort in early 2025.
New Regions
LVF began with five initial regions: Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, St. Louis, and Washington. For our second cohort, we are adding three additional regions: Atlanta, Minneapolis, and New York City. We’re excited to continue growing and welcome recommendations of potential fellows from any of these areas.
Applications Open
Applications for our next fellows class open today. If you are an early-career, Christian attorney living in one of our eight regions, please consider applying. And please pass along the application to anyone you know who might be interested.
Welcome Eden Sung
I am excited to welcome Eden Sung as LVF’s Chief Operating Officer. Eden is a 2019 graduate of WashU Law and has spent the past five years in private practice in Washington, DC. She was part of our inaugural LVF cohort and is ideally situated to help us continue the work of this program!
Sounds exciting.
