I’ll be offline for the next couple of weeks. I’m grateful for generous friends, Delta Skymiles, and the peculiarities of higher education that have collectively made possible some time in Hawaii with my family.
We spent the first few days on Oahu. Highlights included the North Shore, Waiola Shave Ice, and a hike to Manoa Falls. We had the added bonus of a tour of the East side of Oahu with my Washington University colleague and Hawaii native, Brian Tamanaha.
In addition to being a renowned legal philosopher, Brian is also a passionate surfer, and he gave my daughter, Lauren, her first surfing lesson at Sand Island:
And now it is over to Kauai for a more restful pace:
